How To Block a User On Instagram
If you have fallen victim to a random hater or if someone is harassing you via Instagram, you can easily block the harrasing user from commenting further.
Log into the Instagram app on your smartphone.
Take a screen-shot of the harassing comment that the user sent you before blocking the user. Also, take a screen-shot of the user’s IG profile. Please view the FightCyberstalking.org Toolkit for more information.
While on the user’s profile, tap the ellipsis near the top right of the user’s name.
A prompt will appear. Select “Block User.”
Did the harassing user also like any or all of your photos? If so, simply blocking the user as of date will NOT block the likes the user sent YOU. Please read below on how to remove likes from your own Instagram photos BEFORE blocking the user.
How To Remove Likes From Your Own Instagram Photos
[Update: To remove likes, simply block the account in question. Instagram has updated their system.]
It’s great to receive tons of likes on your own Instagram photos! After all, who doesn’t want more Instagram likes?! But how would you feel if a person left a harassing comment AND also liked ALL of your photos, and their likes were still showing up even after you’ve blocked them? It might bother you to see the likes that the user you JUST blocked are STILL showing up on YOUR Instagram photo(s). As of current, when you block a user on Instagram, it doesn’t block any of the likes that the user sent YOU.
However, if you report the user the user’s likes will disappear from your Instagram feed forever! Until Instagram updates its block feature, it is the only way to remove unwanted likes/removing likes from a blocked user who liked your Instagram photos in the past. FightCyberstalking.org will keep you up to date on this subject if anything changes.

Another prompt will appear. Select only one, “It’s Spam” or “It’s Inappropriate.”
Now the user will be blocked from future commenting/liking of your photos, and the previous likes that the user sent you will no longer show on your photo(s).
